Console Wars? 03/06/00
It's the games stupid!  Much hype, hoopla, and financial wellbeing is being placed on the so called "console wars."  Everyone is using a crystal ball to peer into the future and predict the eventual winner.  Right here, right now I'll tell you the winner of the "console wars" (Magic 8-Ball, not included)...  Us.

That's right, us.  Gamers.  People like you and I who play the games not the systems.  We are in for a technological treat these days.  Sega is right now supplying us with our Next Generation fix for console games.  Sony is on it's way (for our lucky counterparts in Japan in their living room... not jealous ...) with her awe- inspiring Playstation 2.  Nintendo will step up to bat in fall of the coming year not to mention several consoles rumored to be in production;  namely Microsoft's X-Box.  At least three new consoles.   THREE!  Yu Suzuki, Shigeru Miyamoto, Lorne Lanning, top developers all given top notch systems to develop for.

This is great for gamers.  think of it;  with three systems and there corresponding sets of software (games) vying for marketspace, developers will have to create something   revolutionary (Eidos pay attention!) and otherwise excellant to set them apart from their competitors and end up in your living room.  It's simple math, more competition ='s better games.

Sure some of our unlucky brethern will only be able to pick from one of the upcoming Next Generation systems.  Who though honestly believes that their gaming decision will be based on processor power or somesuch nonsense?  Hopefully nobody will look at the decision this way.  It's the games stupid!  If a consumer is smart they will compare all of the systems and their varied software libraries and choose the games that best suit their interests and likes in console gaming.

Relax, take a deep breath and get ready.  The Next Generation consoles are here and on their way.   It's all about the games and I promise you this:  Each system will have it's own unique titles that make it worth your purchase.  From Final Fantasy's to Mario, to Shenmue, it's all about the games.
